So I picked up a smoker yesterday from sams club, it the 40 in masterbuilt. Figured I would try and break it in with this 7.5 lb butt.

This is what I used for a rub:
2T lawrys southwest sweet & smokey
2T turboado sugar
2T light brown sugar
2t black pepper
2t Cajun seasoning
1t chili powder
1t Cheyenne pepper
1t celery salt
1t ground mustard
1t thyme

Going to put it on around 8 tomorrow morning, then go play some Cornhole for a couple hours.

I will post some updated pics tomorrow when I get back to to the house.

Wish me luck, lol...

Happy smokin',
Randy

Looks great Randy, don't forget to season your new smoker before smoking the butt.

You will love the smoker, there are so many things you can make.

Have fun!

So the pork is finished and omg, probably the best pulled pork I've ever had, this stuff was so moist and so good.... Pulled it at around 198/199, and let it rest for one hour on the nose, and I'm am hooked... Everyone including the wife said this stuff was good... Thank you guys

That's great that you got such good results on your first try with a new smoker!

The PP looks delicious!

Thanks everyone for the kind words... I can't believe it took me so long to actually get a smoker and start smoking my own... I am going to be hooked, lol... Already looking to do a brisket or some ribs next...
