We got a tri-tip from our friendly butcher. When I came upstairs, my wife mentioned it was intermittently windy. We've got some big trees and they were "rocking". I figured I could get the fire going and as it is an indirect cook and lid is closed, I'll be ok. NOPE. NEGATIVE NOT. In 3/4 hour internal temp got up to 90 from 45. Put it under the broiler. (O, I think a few of you are cringing at that) THe fat cap caught on fire. THe temp was up to 110 and I'd really like meat above blue.

Pizza does not taste like tri-tip. Just sayin'

Okay. THAT was entertaining! Glad no damage was done other than the meat.

Made me laugh because recently my 2 1/2 year old grandson was helping his dad garden. The little genius grabbed the water hose, squeezed the handle, and the full force of water hit the wall two feet away and sprayed right back in his face. He put the hose down, turned around, and said, "Well, that didn't work."

Now we have two examples!

Well hopefully the little guy didn't have a bleep in his sentence! But that's funny!

That sucks.
Broiler is not the grill. Learned that lesson, too.
I am not a tri-tip eater. More expensive around here than better cuts of beef

Quite the adventure! I don't take issue with finishing meat in the Oven or Broiler. Now you know to drop your Broiler Rack for any meat that thick. What did you do with the Meat?...JJ

Sadly, the meat got tossed. As we have a dual oven unit, the top oven where the broiler is does not have much space. I had pulled out top rack.

SIGH

Okay, update on my 2 1/2 year-old grandson and the source of his "well, that didn't work" comment.

I was watching an Amazon original kid's cartoon with him this morning called "Stinky and Dirty." A talking garbage truck and excavator face challenges and attempt a variety of problem solving solutions. Guess what they say when they try something and fail. Yep. No bleeps required.
