Morning folks!
Yesterday I bought a couple of Fricks carver hams. Around 4 pounds each. Impulse buy because I really like their hams. And it is hit and miss getting them here.
Anyone have their favorite recipes for ham? I'm thinking slow cooking. I was thinking pulled ham. But not sure of the results with these. Or scalloped potato chowder. AKA, scalloped taters.

I'd be interested in how the pulled ham turns out. We usually bake it, then leftovers go for scalloped potatoes etc later. I also want to run one thru the slicer. Much cheaper than deli ham.

Hard to beat scalloped potatoes and ham... especially since we don't have it often. Ham and potato soup would be good! We sometimes cubed up a chunk of ham and make a macaroni salad with cheddar cheese, and a mayonnaise, french dressing sauce. Bearcarver's double smoked ham is never bad either.

I'm going to do a chowder that is pretty much scalloped potatoes. We rarely have it. And I love the stuff. I make a really good bacon and potato chowder. I'll springboard from that idea.

If you have a leftover sliced or chunk. Ham salad is favorite around here.

We generally top with some thin sliced bacon crumbles and grated cheese of choice. My fav is pepper Jack.

Mine too. There'll be some left over for that.

We like split pea and ham soup...
I never got into split pea soup. Probably from a certain scene from the Exorcist.....lol!

I make that too. But I usually use lil smokies instead of ham. Good soup.

Save some to slice up and do the oven baked ham sliders for New Years eve .
Good stuff .
We bake them covered at first , then take the foil off at the end to control how brown the tops get . Several recipes out there , and not sure which one my Daughter uses , but the All recipes stuff is usually pretty good .

We do a potato/ham chowder made with heavy cream and milk, onion and a little garlic, even deglaze sometimes with a splash of white wine. Fill a bowl with that and top with good cheddar cheese and it’s so delicious.

I love split pea soup made with the ham bone and small pieces. Alas, dont have a bone and dont care for it so wouldnt go that route. I also like ham and beans. Diced some ham up this morning for a ham broccoli and cheese omelette with salsa on top.
