Competing in Bon Appetit contest

So I submitted a bunch of my food pics to Bon Appetit for a contest they call Favorite Chef. I also had to write 140 words on why I’d like to be selected. There are many professional chefs as well as home hacks like me who apply. I was amazed to get a message today that I’d been selected to compete! No idea on how it all works yet. I do know it’s voting based. That likely slants it to people with well established social media presence but who knows. Winner gets $20k and a feature article in the magazine. I have no delusion of winning but I’ll try my best! For me I see it as an opportunity to learn and see what it takes for the next step. Thanks for sharing in my excitement and helping me improve along the way!!

Pretty cool. I've seen some Bon Appetit videos where they pair a pro chef with an amateur and also some challenges, that were sort of like an Iron Chef where each contestant has the same main ingredients.

I judged and competed in some virtual BBQ competitions last year when regular contests were shut down. The drill on those was a photo, 15 second video and a write-up. The judges could enter a live Zoom Room, or had another week to log in remotely to see the entries. It was fun.

Way to go Jeff!! I'm thrilled for you buddy and I know you'll knock it out of the park. The stuff you turn out could easily be put up against a 5-star chef's offerings. As a side note, some of us knew something like this was coming. You have a lot of online exposure and do amazing stuff with food. It was only a matter of time before you got noticed. Cannot wait to hear the outcome...meaning victory!!
