Got the grandkids, most of the daughters and their significant others coming this afternoon for pulled pork, Dutch's Wicked Baked Beans, ABT s, tater salad, coleslaw, fresh corn on the cob, and for desert, home baked banana creme pie and a lemon merangue pie...

This is a pic of the butt at two hours, just before a nice spritz of apple juice and Old Grand Dad... The butt has plateaued at 155 for about 2 hours, it is just starting to climb. The smoker temps are fairly stable at 230-240, it is HOT outside... More to come, stay tuned...

sounds good. Having the family together is always nice. The butt looks good already. Have fun and be safe.

Ill be watching for updates. Sound like you have a fun filled day ahead of ya. Butt looks real good. I still gotta try some of them wicked beans.
How do you make your tater salad?

Sorry folks, no final pix. The day turned somewhat sour on me, about four hours into the smoke... The skies opened up and tons of water fell out. Not only did it rain its arse off, but the wind was blowing it sideways, rendering my trusty patio umbrella to a less than useless state. The firebox got soaked, the temps went to hell, I was soaked, my pride was dampened.

It finally stopped raining after 20 minutes or so, I got things dried out enough to get the temps back up, got the butt up to 160, then foiled it. I stuck the probe back in... it read 147. HUH? I only had this thing out long enough to foil it... I must have gotten a false reading the first time.

Anyway, it was obviously plateauing again, so I opened the foil to get more smoke in there, as I wasn't real thrilled with the bark. It finally got to 160, I threw the beans on, I closed the foil and let it get to 200, then called it dinner. I never did get the ABT s assembled, between the aforementioned crisis and the wife having the kitchen tied up most of the day... oh well.

Butt, all in all, it all turned out excellent... had barely enough pork left for my lunch today!

Sounds like your luck is about like mine Hawg as far as the rain goes. I think we are finally gonna get our summer heat here and the rain has moved out hopefully. Keeping my fingers crossed anyway the hotter it gets the busier I get. Up until recently I felt like the maytag repair man Lol.

This was the only time (so far) the weather really screwed things up for the smoke... usually the patio umbrella does the job. Guess I've been lucky!

Good luck with your business, I hope it gets hotter than hell for ya'!
