Hey everyone,

Name is Chad, live just outside Montreal and yesterday I purchased a Weber Smokey Mountain 22.5'...still waiting for it to ship :)

I have never smoked in my life...so I am as new as they get! I am sure I will have a few questions to post as I learn. :))

Cheers!

Welcome from BC.

You've come to the right place to start smoking. There is a great deal of information in the posts, great people who will share their experience, and great ideas.

As for a first smoke, a spatchcock chicken is a good quick smoke. Cooking a pork butt for pulled pork is a long smoke but is quite forgiving.

When you get your smoker, be sure and season it, then pretty much what Disco said, Chicken is real easy, Pork shoulder takes a long time but forgiving. You may want to do a couple of short cooks just to get the feel of your new smoker. Throw on some sausage too.
