highest temp you can go for cold smoking boiled eggs

What is the highest ambient temp to cold smoke hard boiled eggs? seems it wouldn't make whole lot of diff if they were already cooked and don't mean above 90* or so. Want to do deviled eggs along with ribs and chik breast for fathers day. Thanks for any info. Dave

Dave Ambient temp is not the problem with any cold smoke. Snoker temp is the issue. you can alway freeze jugs of water. Add them to the smoke. Replace with frozen jugs as needed.

Just start with raw eggs and place them in a foil pan and toss them into the smoker for 1.5-2 hrs. while cooking your other stuff. The smoke will penetrate the shell and give a nice lightly smoked flavor. Makes great deviled eggs!

Oh yeah... a lot of us hot smoke them. Some folks call them dino eggs, because they look kind of like old dino eggs when they are done. They are really tastey for deviled eggs, egg salad, ect.

I like cold smoking them better than the Dino egg method. They tend to get rubbery when done the Dino way. The same thing will happen if your smoker temp is too high. Ideally a temp below 80* for cold smoking. This can be achieved on really cold days or by placing frozen bottles of water in your smoker and using an external smoke generator. I did an "egg experiment" a while back. Where I did smoked eggs three ways. Type that and dirtsailor in the search bar and you can see the results.

Wunderin about the "dino method" which I would never have thought or possibly ,I would have tried, would do anything once. Have done twice six hrs at a time on the amnps peeled. Wasn't a soul that didn't likem but is all new. Doing peeled and smoked farm fresh along with ribs and all. Deviled eggs with 4 slices crumbled bacon and a couple Tbls smoked chedder maybe Vermont that was done in March. OH YEA! can't wait for fathers day.
