Hey all ! Just getting started with a smoker here in Northern Indiana

Just ordered a Masterbuilt Vertical Gas Smoker with Dual Doors.  It was shipped today.  I'm anxiously looking forward to cooking up some awesome pulled pork.

Ever since my family vacationed in North Carolina a few years ago, we've become HUGE fans of BBQ pork -- especially the Carolina version.  We'll probably pass on the hush puppies, but bring on the pulled pork topped with slaw!! 

I'm looking forward to interacting with all of you here on the forum.  I have a lot to learn...and (as time goes on) will be happy to share any tips and tricks that I can.

When you fire her up, for the Madien Voyage, be sure to send Q-view. Oh, and good choice on Pork Butt for your first , very forgiving and will help the learning curve greatly.Practice as often as you can and be 'PATIENT' as you Smoke, don't change the heat on the Butt in the "Stall". Time will get it to it's Loving Deliciousness .

And get a 'Good' Themometer' , you'll thank me later.

Patience?  Oh God...that could be a problem!  LOL!!  It will be worth it, I know.  I am really looking forward to my first project.

A "GOOD" thermometer.  Yes, indeed.  I'm looking for some help on this subject.  The best reviews are on the Maverick ET732.  Although there are some negative comments...but I guess that's ALWAYS the case, right?

That's the model I'm leaning toward.  Amazon has it at $59.99.  I'll shop around, but that's probably the best place to buy it.

I just checked UPS tracking and my smoker (Masterbuilt Gas Smoker w/ Dual Doors) is "out for delivery".  It should be on my doorstep by the end of today.

I just got an email message that my Masterbuilt smoker was delivered by UPS.  I'm REALLY excited to get it put together and seasoned so I can start making so gooooood-tasting food.

Look what UPS delivered today!

I can't wait to put this baby together.

But....probably not tonight. 

Other projects to get done.  Like mop up water in the basement.  It seems the furnace's humidifier decided to spring a big leak today.

Oh..the joys of home-ownership!

Honestly, it's no big deal.  I am blessed beyond belief.  Not going to let some water get me down.

I'm itching to get it put together....just have to be patient while I get a few other things checked off my 'to-do' list tonight.

Just found out our favorite grocery store has ribs on sale this week -- 1/2 price.  That must be a sign.  

  Gotta smoke some of them!  Soon!
