Hey SmokeSlinger -

Thanks for the message!  Yes, I've already found a TON of good info here.  Looking forward to learning all I can.

I appreciate the tip.  : - )

Here's an update on my first smoker.

I ordered the Masterbuilt Gas Smoker from Sears.com on Sunday afternoon.  It was on sale, plus FREE shipping and I had a gift card for $25.00.  I love free shipping and gift cards!  : - )

It was shipped on Monday, I received it via UPS on Tuesday afternoon.  Tuesday night was my "clean up the water on the basement floor" project since my automatic humidifier (attached to my furnace) decided to spray water all over.  Not good.  But not as bad as it could have been.  I was happy about that.

Last night was dinner out with the family and then home -- to put the smoker together.  Yes!

It was a pleasure to read directions that made sense.  I've put a lot of things together and the instructions have been horrible.

Also, it was nice to put something together where the holes matched up, all the parts were included and I didn't have to stand on my head to assemble it.

So...drum-roll please...here's a couple photos of last night's adventure:

Masterbuilt packaged the parts very well.  Wrapped in foam sheets and tucked into four boxes that fit perfectly into the body of the smoker.  Smart engineering!  We put an old sheet on the carpet in case their was oil or grease. There was neither.  It was perfectly clean.

Here's the smoker completely assembled.

I want to get a cover for it since it will be outside.  If anyone has suggestions, let me know.  I'd like to find a waterproof one that fits snugly and goes almost all the way to the ground.

I love this thing!  Now...gotta get it seasoned.  Then...this weekend there just MIGHT be some good smokin' going on at our house!
