Hey guys! So i usually get email notifications from the forum but have not in over a month, I gotta see whats up with the settings. I just thought everyone was being quieter than normal haha. so i'm just now catching up.

To ditto what Mark Discus39 said, i'm first and foremost looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new, sitting by the fire.

So the competition this year is Pork.....it can be ribs, chops, tenderloin, etc etc etc. As usual, we'll shoot for a 5pm turn-in time Saturday and then the big dinner (potluck) after the judging.

Drink Competition ......who's in? My girlfriend (Miranda) is entering, her mom and step dad and myself. So we have at least 3 competitors between us.

Miranda, myself and her mom and stepdad are heading down Thursday late morning so probably arriving around lunch time-ish. I haven't exactly figured it out yet but i plan to make some apps througout the weekend. Pigshots for sure, Miranda is very excited about that. Might do some kind of stuffed shrimp jalapeño thing at some point.

Sides and stuff....i'll update this tomorrow after talking to Miranda's mom, but as of right now she's making Mac & Cheese Friday to go along with Keith's Ham. Not to conflict with the mac and cheese on Saturday. (more to come on this shortly)

Sausage/SnackStick making - Keith your the expert there so if you wanna keep it easier and do summer sausage instead of snack sticks, i'm cool with that. I was gonna bring 2 boston butts (cut and frozen) down with me. If that's too much i can bring just one.

.....am i missing anything? I'll be checking on here daily between now and next Thursday for update, questions and comments.

I think that's all for more tonight. I spoke to Mark a little bit ago on the phone. Keith i'll call you in the next day or so to touchbase as well.

Last i heard, Jeramy jarjarchef can only swing a day trip on Saturday and Don orlandosmoking will be camping all weekend as normal.

Games......cornhole....ring toss....the "hit the beer bottle with the frisbee off the stand game", and all the other things....do we have that covered?

Firepit/Firewod for night time hangings....do we have a plan? Keith are you bringing the planks you usually bring? Or should we all contribute to that. Obviously BYOW for smokers :)

I'll check back tomorrow :) Looking fowad to our 13th (ish) year!!

I'm planning a 3 color rotini pasta salad for one or both nights depending on far it goes. This is a home made recipe and not "suddenly" out of the box.

I was planning to be a proxy for Rick ( BGKYSmoker (NEPAS)) and bring a couple boules of sourdough, but the starter decided to expire (twice). I'll bring some loaves of home made yeast bread instead.

Trip to Costco Business Center for tri-tip got delayed again. Braved some Black Friday sales. Oh the madness.
Not sure when I get to Costco BC at this point.

Planning to try a tri-tip brisket style on Friday.
Will try to do a traditional tri-tip on Saturday. Rumor is there may be a tri-tip lover making a guest appearance at the soiree. PM me if you will be there.

OK Doug... you bring 2 butts, cut and chilled (buried deep in ice)... Mark , you can bring 2 butts (cut and chilled as well) ... Carol, You can bring 1 butt (also cut and chilled)..

Cut them in 1 x 1 long strips ... Fat and all... You can cull out the stringy fat if you like...

Hey all, so bad news on my part unfortunately...I've been in the hospital since Sunday (12/1) and they don’t t have an estimate on when i'll get out

After thanksgiving at my gf's parents house and then holiday lunch at mom's Saturday, i felt like I had food poisoning but it got worse to the point where i was just throwing up bile and then air. Miranda took me to UF's ER Sunday they prescribe that it was "acute pancreatitis ". After many, MANY tests, poking proding they confirmed it was and . Ive been having bouts of bloating and random vomiting over the last year or so they are obviously worried about since I also have a "fatty liver). SOOOO RIGHT NOW they want to keep more for more tests and monitoring to at lest Wednesday and maybe Tuesday!!!!

With that being said, i'm not sure I'll able to make with every going on around this BUT I'M GONNA TRY MY DAMNDIST, even it means just coming Friday evening or Saturday not but i'd be packing lighter. THIS SUCKS but hope the best and they let me out earlier. Miranda, her mom and step dad are coming to visit the hospital tomorrow (tues) we'll discuss any plans for them to head down without me but i'm not sure where i'll be (hopefully still above the ground haha). Ok probably not that funny.

If anyone is coming from some where north or around me (Alachua/Gainesville area) and wants to grab my 12x10A A-frame (comes apart) and anything else that i usually bring earlier let me know!

Bub, That's the last thing you need to be worried about is making it to the Gathering... Sure it sucks but it makes ya look towards next years even more... (ask me how I know) ....

Just concentrate on your health brother... It's been a rough year for both of us health wise... Do as the Dr's tell ya and let Miranda pamper ya... LOL...

We'll be thinking of y'all and in our prayers for a speedy/full recovery...
