Happy 4th all

just went thru another year of plain ol burgers and dogs and need to get smokers fired up again. Since having the little one a few years ago all the competition equipment is gone except a traeger pro 22 and a komodo kamado

looking to see if anyone would be willing to lend a whole hog cooker in NE florida for Labor day this year or know a good place to rent one. I know pretty far out but need to start planning for neighborhood party. Om either doing a 60-70lber for family or 250lb for whole block depending on what I can get my hands on

any help is appreciated

Build your own with loose placed cinder blocks. Super simple to build and not a permanent structure. Feed it with charcoal.

I was leaning towards this but have no place for it. Wish still had GMG. I fit a 60lb head off in there previously. If cant do hog ill fill up all other cookers with cuts

Plan on doing wild pig in longhorn RF for Labor Day. Neighbor is heading to farm this weekend with tree stand and plenty of ammo

what is best way to store how for two weeks? I have seen various reports that said can keep on ice in cooler for 14 days. Also seen where people have said dont go longer than 7 days

i do have a deep freezer I can put in for a week but how should it be prepared before freezing? Just throw it in or wrap with something?

The pig should be wrapped before freezing. It will protect from freezer burn. A pair of unscented, hvy duty Trash Bags will work. Just get as much air out as possible. Double bag and wrap in Tape.
Just like storing in the Refer for 2 weeks would be a long time, risk of spoilage, storing on Ice is not that different. Yes a 32°F Cooler of Ice is better than a 34 to 36°F Refer, but that is still a long time to maintain quality...JJ

Thanks Jimmy

So you think wrap tightly with saran wrap and into the deep freezer for a week then transfer to cooler of ice switching out ice daily would work? How long would it take a 70-80lb how to thaw completely if moved from freezer to cooler with ice?

Can't say for sure as I've not tried this, but a week or so in the freezer and 3 to 4 days in the in the Cooler, should do it. Some info that may help...JJ
