Hmmmm Sweet Baby Rays in Elk Grove just south of Chicago was the best brisket I've had yet that wasn't from someone's backyard smoker. Welcome to the area. Prized Pig and Wheatberry just above the Michigan border along with Evil Czech Brewery in Mishawaka have been my best BBQ experiences as of late. I'm in Elkhart just east of you. Have fun trying all the new to you places and let us know the results.

Meatman72 here located in Elkhart north east side where you see billows of smoke . Just started smoking this summer .Don't have a fancy smoker but it gets the job done . They keep jacking the price of meat up ,Ill be smoking veggies LOL.

Just a little south of Anderson and a little east of Pendleton.

Hello fellow Hoosiers. Jeff here from Georgetown, 25 minutes NW of Louisville, KY. Just purchased my first smoker and joined SMF. We're looking forward to exploring many of the great ideas and techniques found on the forum.

Oh, btw anyone looking for a deal on a MES should check out Cabelas mid winter clearance sale going on now. Got a MES 40" Sportsman Elite with solid door, cover, 6 grill grates, sausage hanger and Bluetooth for $279. Pretty good deal. Normally priced $429. It's amazing how much more room this has in comparison to the 30".

Jeff, your in a good place to go after those big catfish in the Ohio. I have to drive 120 miles to get there.

I just got my MES 30" a little over a week ago. I wanted to go smaller to start with and at a price of $199 for a gan 2.5 I pulled the trigger.

Here is one of those little cats down that way.

Wow THW. That's a hog. I spend more time in the woods than on the water. I definitely understand that things with fins or fur can become an obsession for some of us though. Kinda like this smoker thing could become. My wife is scared.

Haha, I know that feeling. I have not hunted is quite a few years but do fish as much as I can. Mostly catch and release since I catch a lot more than I can use.

I did some hunting today at Wally world and snuck up on some pork ribs that had a decent price. The Spare ribs were $2.11 a pound. Baby back Ribs were $2.39 a pound. They had some St Louis ribs but I did not look closely at them. I brought two racks of the Spares home because I just couldn't pass that up after paying $4.99 a pound a week ago at another store.

The temps are dropping tonight and tomorrow but I think I will do my first rid smoke, if the UPS guy gets here with my Thermoworks Smoke so I can monitor the IT. It is supposed to be a messy day but I guess I will just have to work with it.
