Ok, so let me start out by saying. 37 years ago today I tied the knot for the first and only time. I'm not quite sure how my better half has put up with me for so long, but she did and I'm eternally grateful.

My wife loves a good steak and I got lucky at the local grocers the other day and found a smallish tri-tip. So instead of the porters I was planning on buying for our anniversary (which I did anyway. I just froze them instead of cooking them). I fired up the 22" Kettle with the Vortex and went to town.

Here's the intangibles: Angus Beef

A smearing of butter:

After an SnP treatment on both sides. Out she goes onto the kettle. Along with a couple of spuds.

Once the meat releases itself from the grates. It gets a 90* turn for a spell then flipped over for a Deja Vu moment.

Then off to the side to finish cooking.

All sliced up and one place to go.

I do believe this is my first plated shot that's been posted. It felt kinda strange to, because I normally only put one item of food on my plate at a time.

Anyways, thanks for looking, and I hope you all had as nice a day as we did.

Awesome Chris and happy anniversary to you both. I met my wife when I was 18 and even though we spent 3 years together in the same HS, we did not know each other (grad class of 680). It was not until I transferred to a school 7 hours away in upstate NY that we ended up on the same floor.

I think the secret to a great marriage is if each of you think they got the better end of the deal. I never thought she would go out with me let alone marry me!

Onto the TT, 3.5lbs is actually pretty big for a trimmed one. I never thought to sear before the low and slow but now I want to do that. Great cook and awesome job!

Thanks Rich for the kindly words. She did actually help with the beer pole in a similar fashion to what you mentioned. It started out as an outlet for our pool pump and I wanted it closer to the deck. She wanted it further away. She won,

Appreciate it Cliff. Similar story here. We went to the same High School, but we didn't know each other. I knew her older sister and her sister introduced us when I was a bouncer at the local watering hole.

Appreciate it Edge. Congrat on the silver anny to you also.
A great big congrats, Chris, on the 37 years of wedded life. And a fantastic job on the TT, and the delicious looking plate.

Carousel! Carousel! Carousel!
Thank you Ray. It was a good day all around.

Perfect cook
Appreciate it BB.

Congratulations on 37 years. I was thinking, “Wow, that’s a long time!” Then, I did the math. We are only 2 months behind you. Where did all that time go?
Time flies when your having fun Sven. I can't believe I'm a grandfather, and one of those guys I called the old dude when I was young. At least I still have my hair and it's not to grey yet.

Chris

Chris, first let me congratulate you on finding someone that could put up with you for that long...:emoji_laughing: Seriously though, in a world where marriage is often viewed as something disposable, is discarded and replaced once the new is worn off, the good is gone, the going gets tough, 37 years is amazing. And the perfect tri-tip meal is just icing on the cake...

Hopefully many more years of marital bliss if you just remember these 2 words...
YES DEAR!!

Great Tri-Tip Chris. Excellent approach to sear and then go indirect. Congrats to both of you for making it work and welcome to the more than 35 years clan!
