I'm thinking about building my own controller. It will consist of the following elements:
It would be primarily aimed at pellet smokers since the control of the pellet supply would be possible. However, control of inlet air dampers for items such as Big Green Egg, or other smoker that has a way to accurately control inlet air would be possible. I previously controlled the temperature of my Big Green Egg using a electic damper connected via hose to the inlet air. Such adaptions should work with any smoker that has a rather air-tight and controllable air.
This will be an 'open software' project, hosted on Github.com I will be in charge of the project, and have final decision on all capabilities to be provided.
