Its 65 degrees at lunch today, that's the coolest its been here in 8 months! I started off thinking, Hmmmm....... Fire up the oven and bake. Then it just all came together. I have some chicken wings (excellent for gumbo and dumplins), HOT WINGs!

Smoked hot wings, then bounced around in a pan with my neighborhood famous hot wing sauce. Last nights okra, it was smothered with onions, tomatoes, a little bell pepper, with large Gulf shrimp added to the okra to balance it out. Gotta add something to cool my mouth off..... Cool summer cucumber salad. I love this weather.

I hope everyone is excited about the cool weather as I am.

Hot Wings Hot Wings yes sir a delicious meal for sure. Ha we went from 65 2 days ago to 32 this morning and the ground covered with that stuff they call frost. That's the end of anything left in the garden.

Come visit up here Foamy..we've had snow and sleet in WI already.. ;)

I spent a winter between Great Lakes, Ill and Groton, Conn. I have seen snow, stood topside watch in Holy Loch Scotland, 15 below and 30 knot winds. And I still love the winter. LOL Its probably because were don't see much of it here.

Yeppers, was a fine lunch.

Seriously, weren't you ready to be done with the garden anyway? Gardens are fine but I was always ready to be done with it long before it was done with me.

I love this time of the year. Jacket in the morning and short sleeves in the afternoon. But it get's tough to love the weather here past Thanksgiving.

LOL me too. But you can bet it will not last long and there will be rain involved in its passing.

Long ago as a young man, I spent Thanksgiving in a Canadian provincial park in a pup tent, we crossed over at International Falls. OMG, like camping wasn't dumb enough, we brought an aluminum canoe! We caught a HUGE fish, it had HUGE teeth, and it took the canoe away from us. OMG COLD water!! First time I ever saw a chipmunk, and they played with us all night. we'd chase them then they'd chase us....... Had it not been for those imperial quarts we might have froze!

Thank you

Well I am thinking you get those nice offshore breezes, probably got a breezeway ( a screened in porch). 84 my A/C can handle, 96 you can hear it weezing, crying for just one break from working...LOL

See, here we don't get down time only growing time. Generally it was 4 plantings a year, oh and strawberries too!

When one garden finishes, you wait a week to pull it up or turn it under, a week to fertilize, a week to start pulling up rows.... Winter was always my favorite garden. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, greens..... maybe just a few strawberries before a cold snap would end 'em. Listen Pops winter garden was not to be believed. Cabbages as big as basketballs and sweet, HUGE broccoli and cauliflower heads.

If we are lucky we can garden from March to about the end of October. Cold weather crops in March and Sep. into Oct. all the rest of the season is warm weather crops.

Sounds like Foamy can raise homegrown maters year round. If that's the case I might have to buy his parish when that mega lottery comes in.

I quit hrowing tomatoes because they can't handle our heat, There a variety called "Celebrity" that was bred for the heat. BUT the skin is soooo hard and the taste is yuck, its not worth the effort. besides one of my neighbors grows 'em hydroponically for 20 years (his are yuck too!). I never understood how I got produce twice as good living in the dessert of West Texas than I can in the Louisiana delta? I guess West Texas is closer to California.
