I have decided to get a gaming computer. This will open up new games for me. Jeff is going to look around for me but thought I would just throw this out to some of the computer guru's here. I been spending a lot of time researching and just getting more confused the more I look. My budget is around $1500. Suppose I could go higher if I really need to. I not in any hurry just trying to find out what to look for. I will be connecting this to my home theater. Hopefully running both on the same circuit not going to be a problem? My avr pulls about 750 watts and TV around 300. I know some of thee gaming computers pull some current. It on a 20 amp circuit. Think as long as I keep the volume down during gaming should been fine? I mainly crank it up watching music.

BGSDT, My last couple PC's have been MSI aegis series. I have been happy with them for gaming, whatever you buy make sure you get 32 GB of RAM. You want to get the best graphics card you can afford and be prepared for it to be obsolete in a few years . :)

BGSDT, Not a bad rig. It all depends on what kind of gaming you do, This PC would be fine for role playing etc. games. If you like FPS games against other players it would be mid range i.e. you could get slammed by other players . As I said I do like the MSI PC's and you should be fine with your choice.

I not like multi-player games at all.

Can't go wrong with MSI. That's what I used when I was building them. It been a while. I've gone the high end laptop now. I do video editing and captures.

Check on your video card options. They are pricey. Any high end NVidia will do. Once again higher numbers in video ram = more $$

Have fun & Turn it up to 11!

Just one more question. Bestbuy has what looks to be the same unit unless I missing something and its cheaper and would rather order from them.

I bought a Gigabite from bestbuy, seems pretty good 6 months in, I don’t play games against others but my son said it has a great graphics card in it

Both of those have pretty good specs. The 4070 will allow you to play games in 4K with max details. Of course you will need to plug it into a 4K TV. :emoji_sunglasses:

That is good to know. I never really understood why a little Roku can do UHD but it takes a high end computer to do it?

Never have I bought an expensive high-end gaming pc but now I'm highly considering one (maybe it's a mid-life crisis haha) I've got my eye on this Dell Alienware and I'm wondering if they are any good (and worth the money. I'm thinking my budget is between £2k and £4.5k If not then any recommendations with different desktop gaming pcs will be very welcome. Haven't looked at any monitors yet but I will do when I find my ideal Gaming PC. Thanks for any replies and guidance

A Roku is not doing any work to convert any video to one form to another. It is simply giving you what they have. I have two of them and they a great for what they do but they are just passing on what is available.

Video cards that are the best for high end gaming computers are the Nvidia and AMD Radion.

I am not a fan of AMD since my many years of working on computers the failure rate was about 10 times more than any intel board. That is just my personal experience.

Hey Brian, do you have a Microcenter nearby by chance?

If you’re building it yourself, they usually have pretty good deals on bundles for motherboard, cpu and ram. They also sell pre built rigs too, and the staff are very knowledgeable.

Also if you’re building, the pcpartpicker website is helpful for price estimates and compatibility issues.

There is one in Dallas. I looked and really did not see anything. I do not want to build. I can screw up anything! I really interested in that MCI. Jeff had told me he was going to look and waiting to here from him before I pull the trigger.

Good timing. I haven't been watching graphics card prices lately but Nvidia just released their 50-series, so that might hopefully bring down the cost on their older ones just a tad? As far as the system you want, it really depends on the games you play (now, and future). No need to get fancy/spendy if you aren't into multiplayer and staying on top of the latest releases.

I have bought a couple Dell gaming towers that were great! Check out Micro Center . com. they usually have good setups.

If you have a Costco membership, check them out. they have several MSI PC's and great policies if you run into snags.
