Scappoose, Oregon
Hi,

My name is Keith and I am new to this forum.  I live near Scappoose, Oregon in a floating home on the Multnomah Channel, which runs between the Willamette and Columbia Rivers and is about 20 miles from Portland.  I have been smoking meats for about 5 years, but I am recently retired and looking to increase my smoking hobby.  I currently have a Green Mountain pellet grill (Daniel Boone) and a Big Chief smoker that I am thinking of replacing with something better and more controllable.  I am an avid boater which is why I live where I do.  Am looking forward to what I can learn from this forum.

Talk to you all later,

Keith

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "SMF User Guidlines" .....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Welcome from Canada, Keith.

This is a great forum with a lot of friendly members. You will like it here.

I am considering purchasing a Green Mountain Daniel Boone myself. How do you like yours?

Hi Disco,

I have really enjoyed the DB grill.  I love it for ribs and pork butts.  Still use my Weber gas grill though for steaks and burgers.  I have had no problems with it, but it has had some rust and it is only 3 years old, but I think they have fixed that problem on the newer models.  The main reason I got it is because of the height of the cooking chamber.  I was looking at the Traeger and this one will handle taller meats such as chicken and turkey much better.  For the money, the Green Mountain is a good choice.
