Hello from Milwaukee, WI

I'm depressed from the Packers loss, so I decided to pick myself up by joining the website.  My brother-in-law, "BookEm" recently joined the site and has turned me on to the trade.  This website is outstanding!

I love cooking and grilling of any kind. Completely amateur, but I learn quick and usually get rave reviews.  I hunt deer, pheasant, duck, (hopefully soon) turkey, and anything that someone will teach or take me for.  I've made brats and jerky before, but never smoked wild game.

I have my grandpa's old classic weber charcoal grill that I recently tried my first pork smoking… worked well and I look forward to trying new things and making the process better.  I'm also considering my options for a woodmoker build for sausage.  I have a natural gas line to my weber grill, and would love to split it to a gas burner in a wood smokehouse.  Pops had a great burner and build that I'm considering, but my lack of natural gas knowledge makes me a bit nervous about trying to hook up myself.  I'll likely follow up with a thread to get advice about this… the rest of it I should be able to figure out.  Risk is high with a natural gas line, so I'm thinking I might need a professional (cost of a natural gas line should outweigh frequently changing a propane tank?!).

Congrats to the NY Giants.  Good luck through the rest of the playoffs.  Roll Call with QVIEW!!

Welcome to SMF - sorry about your Packers - glad to have you here

Glad you joined us RFro, welcome to SMF!

Weber kettles should a staple in every smoking household in my opinion. Nothing better to learn temperature control on and they are quite mobile.

Welcome to the party.

We'll try and take care of those pesky NY Giants next week when they visit us here in the SF Bay Area.  Hoping for another 49er smackdown.

Curt.

to SMF. You have come to the right place for smoking info. This site is loaded with great info just use the search bar at top of page to find what you are looking for. If you can't locate the answer just ask folks here are willing to share there knowledge. I suggest you take  the 5 day e-course on smoking its chuck full of great info.Smoking Basics 5-Day eCourse

As you can see from my avatar pic I am a cheese head so I too am bumming. All I can say is they beat themselves with bad play. Played the worst they have all season, in a game that had too count. Whether this is due to the week off as commutators have speculated I can't say.  I had a friendly bet with a buddy of clearing snow and cutting grass. Guess I'll be clearing snow (praying it don't snow), and cutting grass for a month. I am not a fair weather fan, I am a cheese head threw thick and thin. There is always next year and the pack will be back with a vengeance I feel.

Nice looking Q-view BTW

First off welcome to SMF. Sorry and my team lost to. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course.
