Valero’s Billion-Dollar Exit: Newsom’s Regulations Fuel California’s Self Induced Gas Crisis
When I saw when this thread started I immediately thought of who was the president at the time...
I've heard of this. Luckily never been to San Fran...or NYC for that matter. Zero desire to do so. The smell of weed and urine wafting through the air is what people seem to report.
So stupid. But, when a gas station owner tried rounding up his prices to stop this stupidity, people went to his competitor for .1¢ less. We really arent that smart as a people. I would drive out of my way to buy gas from someone who didn't price this way just to protest. Like little lemmings, people drive around and never questions this.
Back in the Stone Age when we got our internet through dialup, I asked my local IP why he didn't just round up from $19.95 to $20 a month. I mean, "come on!...right?". He told me he tried it and lost business. People actually called to complain and switched providers over 5¢.
After going to St. Croix (on business) 40 years ago, I realized the only purpose for the penny was taxes and jerks who charge .99.99 for crap. St. Croix didn't use pennies, everything was priced to the nickel. Finally the nation followed suit and we're getting rid of pennies as of this year, but now that almost everything is digital...they can still ".99.99" us in to stupid oblivion!
Virginia has fallen again. For some reason the idiots here want to tie us to the Green Scam of Cali. Few people want EV's, but the reason they want us restricted to them...well, I better stop there...
2.24 new braunfels TXHow much do you pay per gallon?
Minneapolis, MN = $3.60/gallon
When I need fuel, I have to buy it regardless. I can't get my boat to the landing on empty and my customers don't want to hear what it costs me. I've thought about that Upside app and am curious how much you get bombarded with junk mail, calls, and texts...I don't check prices much around here anymore, when my work truck needs fuel I just go get some and when my personal vehicle needs fuel it is kind of the same. I actually pick my fill ups based more on where I get the better cash back on Upside App. I have been using it for coming close to 3yrs now and have almost $1,800 earned in that time frame
I had the Upside app briefly. I found that the participating stations weren't among the cheaper places in the first place, so I deleted it. If you live somewhere where every station's prices are pretty close, then it might be worth it.When I need fuel, I have to buy it regardless. Sorry but this got long. Just want to give almost everything I have learned about the Upside App in the 3yrs.When I need fuel, I have to buy it regardless. Thank you for the real world experience...Sorry but this got long. Just want to give almost everything I have learned about the Upside App in the 3yrs.
There is a bit of a pyramid scheme to it as there are offers for getting others to sign up. For instance when I first signed up for the first 30days anyone I sent a code from my app and they made a purchase I would get $20 per person into my account the they got something into their account plus a bonus. Currently if I send someone an invite that person gets an additional $11 on top of their first purchase (over $10) and I would also get $11. After that I would get .10 for every purchase over $5 and someone I referred has made. I have 4 people that have signed up in 3yrs and have got a total of $28.85 so I'm not exactly killing in in that part.
From what I can tell I don't seem to be getting any extra junk vs before. I decided to try it after a couple older guys that I go to church with were telling me about it and I consider them pretty smart and cautious. I have not pulled any money directly into my bank account yet but have taken Amazon gift card/codes. There are a pile of digital gift cards you can get, Texas Roadhouse, Home Depot, target, Walmart, Pet Smart, Cabela's, Bass, Pro AMC Theatres, Google Play, Lowes, Visa Reward Virtual Account, just to name a few. There are also food places that you can get a percentage of money back such as Jersey Mikes, Applebee's, Papa Johns, Domino's for example
It's a little weird how it works sometimes, for a while now there are certain gas stations I can easily get .20-.25 cents per gallon but now the last 2 days those spots are .01 but I do have other places with .12-.16. I went a while on .07 per gallon then all of a sudden it started to creep up in the teens. One warning I have is that if you have rewards at a place that you enter a code or phone number for then you will get docked big time on what Upside lets you have, they don't allow double dipping. I think the reason for this is because the stores are the ones deciding to participate or not. For example I have a Holiday/Circle K now just south of my office that never has offered Upside rewards but most every other one in Fargo does plus each location may offer a different amount, same with Casey's Convivence Store's, many times there is different amounts for Regular, Midgrade, Premium and Diesel. Sometimes you have to take a photo of the receipt through the app (really easy) and other times it will just ask you to select your card you are paying with that you have loaded into your digital wallet which is normally what the fuel fills are for me. I have 4 cards available to me I think 2 Credit Card, 1 Debit Card, 1 Wex Fleet Fuel Card (Company Fuel Card). Sorry for making this so long.
Little contrast is I have Marathon Rewards for the station in the small town I live near which is not on Upside. I get about .50per 10gal on average, usually I am grabbing gas or fuel for mores, tractors etc. At my typical worst with Upside I should be able to get $1.20 but normally its $2.30-2.50.
