Compressor issues

My old Craftsman two gallon compressor leaks to zero overnight. ive messed with it and cant locate the leak...about done with it. Ive had it for decades and its generally just been ok, but leaked its whole life with nothing attached.

I cant find a big selection of smaller compressors, so maybe its time for a 6 gallon of where the selection is much larger. All I use it for is bike and truck tires and blowing stuff.

Any recommendations or "stay away from" suggestions? I would rather not drop a ton of money into it. Found this one

I bought this one a few weeks ago. So far. I really like it. Not too noisy. And not very heavy.

I showed my Dad my cheap Ryobi battery inflator and he was blown away and asked Santa for one. Each line has one I bet. Some have a legit battery powered compressors.

I have the hp1 . It came in as a bundle with a 5 and 2 amp/hour batteries and charger. The 5 amp hour battery was worth it because I can use it with the miter saw. And pole scrubber.
The compressor was a bonus.

I have the Milwaukee 18 volt fuel compressor that is a beast.

I ran it. But haven't used it yet. I also got the larger brush for it. Seems like it'll be a great time saver. Jam boxes? You have a link?

Now im torn, I like the battery operated inflator idea. Very handy and no hose stretched out across the garage. Might look into those and keep the POS compressor when I need to use the air blower - which is kinda rare.

If the most use is bike tires , I'd go hand held for sure .
I just went round and round with a small Craftsman . Change out the hose connectors , then mix up some soapy water and apply with a paint brush . You'll find it . Only so many normal places to leak .
Bought mine in the 90's . Low hours . Loaned it out and got it back leaking .
Never really worried about it until now .

Turns out it looks like it had been dropped , and a small crack in the weld at the drain bung .
Used some 6200 psi JB weld . Fixed it right up .
However ,, if you have a tank leak from and older rusted tank ,, replace the tank or retire it all together .

I went over my compressor and wrenched every connection got some movement on a couple copper hose connections. Not a lot, but some. I'll check it again in a few hours.

But I like the battery inflator idea. Time to go shopping

I didnt find anything making bubbles...we'll see. I messed the the drain a couple months ago and thought it was that, but nadda.

If it's just light duty. Airing up a car tire. Or something of that nature. The Ryobi one should suit your needs. Longer run times and higher PSI. I'd recommend something else. The Milwaukee one. Or something like it. I bought it to air up my RV tires. And have a higher duty rating.

I need it for car and bike tires, bike tires are all presta valves. I dont want to use one of the screw on adapters anymore...and all the "real" presta inflators use the larger compressor fittings. Looks like its a fix or replace situation.

I have this on mine. I'm not fond of the screw on ones either.

found the leak. The back of the pressure regulator. The inside was rusted and the o-ring is shot. I over gorilla'ed the screws after cleaning and lubing. im done. Time for a new one.

Heads up yes like Steve said inflating a tire with these is doable but not fast like using 150psi. I like it still but say you got a flat car tire. Gonna take 10m and 2 batteries. Bike tire take like 30s. Inflate low pressure car tire is 2-3m. Still beats dragging out the hose etc... Also semi related those cordless nailers are HEAVY AF. Like 3-4 times of pneumatic and full of safety buttons. Not a fan at all. Ok for that small project where you are not using it much but that's it. That said, I am was VERY impressed with my Ryobi 1/2" cordless impact. $70... I had my doubts and thought I would need better line. Oh man shoulda grabbed one years ago! I am deep into Hitachi/Ryobi so was hesitant to try Ryobi but happy I did. It all started with wife getting me a cordless glue glun.

This Milwaukee one is even slicker. Can run off battery or AC and then CHARGE batteries.

I'm late to the party, but I have this for tires and such..... no hauling a tank or finding a cord to plug it in. I also have Dewalt tools and the Dewalt one is on the list at some point, but it is much bigger and for other uses.....

I'm late to the party, but I have this for tires and such..... no hauling a tank or finding a cord to plug it in. I also have Dewalt tools and the Dewalt one is on the list at some point, but it is much bigger and for other uses.....

I would go with that, but I have all dewalt tool, and they battery ones only have the screw on presta adapter and I have used to forever and have come to hate them.

I need to be able to put something like this on the hose
