We made the first batch of this years fruit cakes this morning.

This was a batch of what my grandma called" southern Baptist Fruitcakes"

Uses Grape juice instead of bourbon.

Next weekend will be the Bourbon soaked ones.

This is not your average store bought (door stopper) fruit cakes .These are actually very good.

Same here. We make a dark fruit cake from Grandma's recipe, wrap it in cheese cloth saturated with Hennessy cognac. Open it once a week for the next four weeks and add more cognac.

After two months it's ready. Slice thinly.  Never seem anyone turn it down yet. Except once when we inadvertently Had a WCTU member over for lunch. Strange people.
