I literally have to shut down my generator and move into garage every night. So that it's the next day! Two neighbors have had large ones taken and a hand carry has no chance many taken while they were running.
If you're walking our streets after dark right now! You better be able to quote off neighbors names and where you live. We're calling each other instead of police. Especially if gun shots are heard. I'm not calling police if my neighbor shoots somebody. They'll find them in the street or river below us.

We've gotten our major roads open enough that at least people can get out. You just have to pig trail around to find the way. Oddly enough I heard they found two beaten and duct taped laying in our main road in and out of here. Nobody knows how they got there?

We always chain and lock our generator to the tongue of the boat trailer under the carport....and lock gas cans in the shed. Use it mainly to keep refrigerators and freezers cold...

No need to apologize! Bad/desperate times can turn people ugly ( not meaning you and your neighbors, the other guys) and some people are just schitty! I was just talking to a guy at work yesterday about going through a "fall in society" and the bodies stacked at the end of the lane next to the sign that states "It's not worth it".
It's nice to see someone showed some restraint in the case of the two guys by you. I guess it depends on what they were doing and who they were doing it to!

We are quite a ways southeast of Jim JIMSMOKES and things have stabilized here and should start to improve in the days ahead. Water levels crested yesterday and should start to come down in the coming days even though flood alerts remain in effect for a few more days. Power is gradually returning to some areas further south of us while others are still looking at days or weeks. Looking at what others are dealing with, I almost feel ashamed at where we are now. There are so many that need so much...

Also found out we lost a neighbor today because they put their generator in their attached garage.
I know in my heart there a special place for them later. It's hard not to want their speedy arrival.

Son works for a local grocery . Dairy manager . A guy pulled in today with a Tractor trailer asking for supplies . Water and toiletries , plus some non perishables . He was paying cash .
Manager asked my Son for boxes , and Ryan asked if he could help the guy . It was agreed , and the driver , my Son and another grocery worker packed and filled the whole trailer .
Not about my Son or my family . Just nice to see unity even if it takes a disaster .

A good friend of mine lives right above what's left of Marshal, NC.
His little ranch took a beating, but his house is pretty much okay, he's not worried about his direct family, as they all came home to his house, and will protect it at all costs. I've seen his gun collection in person. They have nothing to worry about as far as looters go, I feel sorry for any looters that try to steal from them. He and his son are both retired Airborne Rangers, and his other son and son-in-law were both Paratroopers in Afghanistan.
He said the death toll is being GROSSLY underrated. Furthermore, he also said the hill people won't have a problem providing for their families until things get sorted out.
He also said the hill people don't give "two pumps and a squirt" about what FEMA tries to do, and that supplies "WILL" get to them due to well armed escorts.

I love the dude like a brother, and feel for every single family effected by this storm.

If I was more able bodied, I'd be there in a second to help them.

Our government is completely broken, we can fix this next month, so please get off your ass and vote. (Not like I have to tell this group), but we all have friends that need a kick in the ass.

His attitude reminds me of this old Hank Jr song.

Yup. I have heard the same thing. Direct quote..."Take the official numbers released today and add two zeros to it."

That would be 21,700 total deaths.

Also, I hear the locals have formed an ad hoc group of mule teams and are packing supplies in through the ridge tops and passes around the FEMA blockades. Bow season for Elk is over in the western states and a lot of the mule teams that would go in and pack out elk for hunters for a fee heard about the shenanigans FEMA is trying to pull. They loaded up and have headed east with their mules to team up with the locals that know the trails to help get supplies in to those that need it. God bless those people!!!!

It is hard to believe that so many individuals that are willing to help are threatened with arrest by trying to help in this time of need. Other groups that are gathering supplies are having them confiscated before they can hand them out.
