fingers crossed for anybody in the big bend of Florida.

Not trying to alarm you, just keeping it real. I'd tell them both to be prepared for a CAT 5 and to be without power for 2 weeks... Power outages will be very extensive and it will take a while to get the infrastructure back in place...takes time clearing trees and making repairs. All that damage gets in the way. Fill bath tubs for grey water and jugs for drinking water.....cell service may go down for a while as well.....
Since he works for Delta, and she works at UGA. I'm sure they're very aware of what may be headed their way. My biggest fear is that they won't tell us the whole truth. They'll try and suger coat it so we don't worry as much. Appreciate all the updates and stay safe.

Well this one doesn't look good for us on it's current projected path it will be going right over us. Earlier today it was forecast to be about 5 miles east of us now it's forecast to pass about 5 miles west of us. Hopefully it takes a jog away from us a little. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow afternoon and night if the path holds. We are 70-80 miles off the coast so not worried about flooding. The problem with leaving is food in freezers, refrigerators, and animals that need fed. We've been through a couple since we moved up here. The only one to make a mess of things was Michael and it passed about 25 miles west of us. I had to push lots and lots of trees just to get us out to the highway. Out of power for exactly a month. If we had left we would not have made it back in without walking 10-15 miles over and around the trees and power poles. As I said I had to push our way out and to get the neighbors out. We didn't see any first responders or anybody else to help for about 10 days and that was a deputy that decided to drive on the roads a friend and I had cleared. We don't have trees close enough to fall on any of our buildings so it's just wind to worry about. Will probably be on generator power this time tomorrow night. Hope nobody else is affected my this one
so sorry. Makes my neck hair stand up. We stayed home for Wilma, way back when. I always swore I'd never do it again. Now with critters and such I'd have no choice. Wilma a was backwards as it came across he swamp from the west. bye bye roof. I'm praying for all of you up there.

Prayers sent Jerry, it looks like you may be facing a Cat 5. Hopefully it spins down before it gets to you!

We are prepared as much as we can be. Im about 100ish miles east of Jerry so we are in for a ride. Good news is that Waffle House hasn't closed yet so theres that for you. If you don't know Waffle House almost never closes.

Outer bands arrived here early this morning and Helene is saying "hello" to us today. Been pouring rain all morning and supposed to continue through tomorrow. We are located on what would be the east/northeast side of it. Not much wind, yet...

Just saw they expect 75mph+ sustained winds in Atlanta. That will do a lot of damage. I'll have to talk to my Uncle, but I believe the Saltwater Mafia will be heading somewhere in the storms path in the aftermath to set up trailers and cook a mega metric ton of food. Yall stay safe people....fixin to get real crappy!

They have changed the projected path at every update since yesterday. They changed it last night at 11 and said it would not be 5 miles from our place anymore. Since then they just continue to change the track. It's now a cat 4 and they say may be cat 5 before it makes landfall. The latest update has it going farther away from us but closer to Brian

That doesn't look good Brian. Unless it changes again it looks like you will get it worse than I do

Hurricanes always wobble back and forth....and it is always nerve wracking watching the updates! Stay safe and hunker down! I have been through a CAT5.....never again for me....

I have been through 2 of them and a good number of lesser ones. A good number with the Fire Dept or EMS

Hoping the best for everyone in its path. She looks like a bitch
