Stay safe folks. I remember hearing a tip on keeping important paper work safe. They said to vacuum seal your important papers and store them in your dishwasher. Made sense to me. The papers will stay dry and shouldn't float away incase of flooding.

OH BOY... HERE WE GO...

At the moment they are saying it will just skirt us (Tampa Bay area)... BVut we all know that can change at any giving moment... I have 25 gallons of gas (both vehicles full too) for the gen set.. 4 bags of charcoal... They are telling us to evacuate, But I am not...

Jerry ( pineywoods pineywoods ) ... Hope you are all set as it's dead on coarse for you...

I would like to see that nobody gets it... since it's gonna hit somewhere I just hope it moves west some more...

STAY SAFE Y'ALL AND BUG OUT IF THINK YOU NEED TO...

Good luck to all of you up there, but as Keith said it can always veer one way or the other. I think this is the first year in a while that we haven’t been hit by something. Season’s not over yet!

My thoughts are with you guys! Always nerve wracking! Looks like a cold front moving through here tonight will spare us and steer it east towards y'all.

One last tip: Fill a bath tub or two....good for flushing the toilet if the power goes out, and for sponge baths if necessary.

Praying this one does not blow up too bad, but it might....be prepared for something stronger than a CAT 3 storm. Have seen CAT 3's go to CAT 5's in no time once they have momentum.....stay safe!

Stay safe and dry guys! We are anticipating weather but nothing like the coastal hit.

Thats a potent storm. If you can I'd get outta dodge. Katrina is not so far in the rearview mirror to remind.

Atlanta is not prepared for what is coming.....
Yikes don't tell me that. My SIL is in Atlanta working, and my daughter is working in Athens. We just got off the phone with my daughter and she told us it's only raining currently.

Not trying to alarm you, just keeping it real. I'd tell them both to be prepared for a CAT 5 and to be without power for 2 weeks... Power outages will be very extensive and it will take a while to get the infrastructure back in place...takes time clearing trees and making repairs. All that damage gets in the way. Fill bath tubs for grey water and jugs for drinking water.....cell service may go down for a while as well.....

Probably not. Atlanta is never prepared for anything. I live a little over an hour north of Atlanta and lots of folks around here know what's coming. Hurricane Michael made a pretty big mess up here. 2018 I think. It hit the panhandle as a big cat 5 and mostly erased Mexico Beach and Cape San Blas where we used to go on vacation. Actually made it well into south GA at hurricane strength and wrecked several small towns. By the time it made it up here it was just a big slow moving badass storm. Lost power for about a week and had a helluva mess.
God bless those on the coast. In comparison our problems will be a minor inconvenience at worst.

Yep couldn't leave our neighborhood for 2 days due to downed pine trees and without power for 3 days.
Expectant daughter is in ATL and her due date is next week. A little concerned for them.

Stay Prepped and safe!

I wish the best for everyone in the CEP.
Our Florida apartment is on the 4th floor. If it floods, the whole state is a goner.
We're still in Minnesota "sweating to the 80's" which is not normal September weather.

Well this one doesn't look good for us on it's current projected path it will be going right over us. Earlier today it was forecast to be about 5 miles east of us now it's forecast to pass about 5 miles west of us. Hopefully it takes a jog away from us a little. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow afternoon and night if the path holds. We are 70-80 miles off the coast so not worried about flooding. The problem with leaving is food in freezers, refrigerators, and animals that need fed. We've been through a couple since we moved up here. The only one to make a mess of things was Michael and it passed about 25 miles west of us. I had to push lots and lots of trees just to get us out to the highway. Out of power for exactly a month. If we had left we would not have made it back in without walking 10-15 miles over and around the trees and power poles. As I said I had to push our way out and to get the neighbors out. We didn't see any first responders or anybody else to help for about 10 days and that was a deputy that decided to drive on the roads a friend and I had cleared. We don't have trees close enough to fall on any of our buildings so it's just wind to worry about. Will probably be on generator power this time tomorrow night. Hope nobody else is affected my this one

Hope the best for you Jerry and Brian.
Last I was there the area still hadn't fully recovered from Michael and made a mess. Being in rural you appear to get less priority than the tourist district to the west and the political district to the east.
