Just catching up on the west coast. This one sure caused a lot of damage and lives lost. I hope for the best for all our brothers and sisters on this site as well as everyone else.
In the same area of the western Caribbean where Helene formed, there's another system that is projected to form early next week. Somewhat different dynamics, but it's there...
Yea, I seen that ... Those are the ones I worry about for us here on the west coast of Fl.
On a side note... I finally did hear from my sister in Ashville last night... She said power is back on and cell phone working... No water, internet or cable yet... She has no damage to speak of...

As a general rule, we don't have to worry much about the storms that form in the gulf, but this one punched us in the mouth pretty hard. We watch the ones coming off the west coast of Africa...
Just got message from my brother that they are OK. Man that has to be some kind of hell they going through!
I’m just SE of Tampa in Riverview. Had a neighbor’s tree fall into my yard, but no damage and other than a bunch of clumps of leaves, we were essentially unscathed, Thank God.
This storm was weird. I got more rain here at my house for Debby, but more wind for this one. About a mile from my house is a neighborhood on the Alafia river, which flows into Tampa bay. The surge was deep enough to where all those houses got flooded out.
My first cousin lives up in Hudson. He had 3-4 feet of water in his house and lost everything. This is incredibly sad, but the poor people up in NC/SC/TN are going through absolute hell right now.
The scary thing is that there’s another system building up near Grand Cayman right now. That’s where Helene, Debby, and Idalia last year all originated. I’m keeping my eyes on that

My winter residence is in south Lake County. We got some shingle damage from the winds.
The level of tragedy that spans numerous states in the wake of Helene is even worse than I imagined would occur. The level of isolation is staggering. People are hurting and it is going to be a while before some people return to any semblance of normal. On top of all this, the levels of looting and mayhem are truly shocking! Prayers for everyone impacted...I feel your pain.....

My daughter in Social Circle said no damage, but a ton of rain. Now I'm reading that a Chemical plant exploded in Georgia and 17K were told to evacuate. When it rains it pours. Stay safe and lets hope that the old saying of things happening in threes doesn't hold true.

I literally have to shut down my generator and move into garage every night. So that it's the next day! Two neighbors have had large ones taken and a hand carry has no chance many taken while they were running.
If you're walking our streets after dark right now! You better be able to quote off neighbors names and where you live. We're calling each other instead of police. Especially if gun shots are heard. I'm not calling police if my neighbor shoots somebody. They'll find them in the street or river below us.

And only gonna get worse... That's why I'm glad I don't have long to go... Don't get me wrong... I'm not rushing it...
THIS!! It's bad here and most may not realize that all that water around Asheville and western NC flows to the ocean through SC...
