I read a study that the older a cheese is the less lactose is in it. My wife cannot fathom a scoop of sour cream, firm cheeses she can tolerate with a Lactose pill, hard cheeses rarely cause an issue.
Thats what I read as well hard and aged cheeses are better tolerated and contain a lot less latose.

Hope you get the GI issues under control Dave. Maybe long-term you can slowly add back pizza and just avoid the things you don't really love but merely enjoy. When I was forming a lot of kidney stones, I got a list of forbidden foods. It was easy giving up raspberries and spinach, but coffee and chocolate were just too important to me. Ended up "negotiating" with the MD 2 glasses of water for each cup of coffee. Seems to be working.
Good luck!

that is my hope. the issues have been ongoing for a decade at least (embarrassed to admit), so there is definitely some healing that needs to happen. AI says month or two for initial, but could 6-12 months to be fully back. At least im on the road now.

Stress can exacerbate lactose intolerance and many other conditions. It's something to think about.

Hmm had plenty of that for the last couple years. Work never stressed me out much. that last couple years of family health and such did.
