Dairy Intolerance?

I read a study that the older a cheese is the less lactose is in it. My wife cannot fathom a scoop of sour cream, firm cheeses she can tolerate with a Lactose pill, hard cheeses rarely cause an issue.
Thats what I read as well hard and aged cheeses are better tolerated and contain a lot less latose.

Hope you get the GI issues under control Dave. Maybe long-term you can slowly add back pizza and just avoid the things you don't really love but merely enjoy. When I was forming a lot of kidney stones, I got a list of forbidden foods. It was easy giving up raspberries and spinach, but coffee and chocolate were just too important to me. Ended up "negotiating" with the MD 2 glasses of water for each cup of coffee. Seems to be working.
Good luck!

that is my hope. the issues have been ongoing for a decade at least (embarrassed to admit), so there is definitely some healing that needs to happen. AI says month or two for initial, but could 6-12 months to be fully back. At least im on the road now.

Stress can exacerbate lactose intolerance and many other conditions. It's something to think about.

Hmm had plenty of that for the last couple years. Work never stressed me out much. that last couple years of family health and such did.

Anyone know if I can bring my own bun to a restaurant? I kinda think you cant.

Dairy is definitely a problem for me and all the burger joints around us use brioche buns which have butter in them.

Its a little startling to find how much dairy is in foods, especially restaurants. they put cheese in or on every damn thing. and fried chicken is usually dredged in buttermilk. Im learning...

So far I have just been asking for no cheese, which is ok. Id rather go without than deal with the reaction.

That's a fact . Don't overlook the posibility .

Work never stressed me out either . Matter of fact I never used to get stressed , I took care of the problem .
Certain thing going on with family at my Mom's ,,, as soon as I think about it my stomach acts up .
Gut Doc told me it was from stress . I didn't want to believe him , but everytime I get around this " situation ", the damn Diverticulitis flares up . I have to change my diet right away or it gets bad .
Looks like jello for supper .

Not quite the same but I have had bad asthma all my life. Milk and Ice cream will instantly cause an asthma attack so I avoid them as much as I can. I can have them and use an inhaler right after but that is just asking for trouble.

Cheese and other dairy products do not affect me as the first two so I am OK with eating them. That is great because I love cheese, sour cream, yogurt and others. I think it is just the liquid form that bothers me so much.

I can do without milk but do love ice cream once in a while. Oh well, it's just better to do without them.

My wife usually orders hers without a bun to eliminate the flour and sugars.
5 Guys are great and give her extra fried onions in the pan.
Good to know! I will likely go that route as well. I like a good burger and a beer. Buns are a PITA for dairy intolerance. I thought restaurants were required to know if FDA allergens were in there food. Sadly they just dont. We went out and I asked the server if dairy was in the buns, she had no idea. Another one thought dairy was in mayo.:emoji_face_palm: (the male version is gone). One restaurant listed all the FDA allergens on the bottom of the menu and stated that they may all be present...so they are in the clear, but the customer has no idea whats in what.
