I drive a diesel pickup and it wasn't the least interested in starting, as cold as it was today, and I wasn't at all interested in standing out in all that wind to boost it off, so I put on my bibs and all that, and walked over here to the barn. The down side is I will have to suit up and walk back to the house after awhile.

Went to do some work in basement yesterday but had a bunch of tools I needed in shop across the yard...so yes, I backed my diesel out of heated garage across the yard to the shop...only one trip not 12 walking lol!

My duramax stays outside, or in an unheated barn sometimes. It grunted, but didn't even come close to starting today. I'll pack an extension cord back to the house with me later and plug in the block heater so it will start tomorrow.

Thankfully one of mine stays in heated garage at 50 degrees and other one in shop, also heated to 50 degrees. But in this weather shop is full...but very nice when it comes time to get things started...especially tomorrow to get tractor out...3 days waiting for feed from feed mill an hour away. They are buried...pulled state plows off the highway by them today.

Man I sure feel for you midwestern and southern boys. This is a tough row to hoe. Funny in a strange way, I’m nestled right up to the Continental Divide and enjoying 31* temps currently. Forecasted to be 20’s for lows and upper 30’s to lower 40’s for highs through Christmas. Crazy how this works. It’s really comfortable here for the time of year. We can be negative 15-20 but I guess we lucked out. Best of luck to all of you. Stay safe and warm.

The winds were howling last night and from mid 40's on Thursday to this in the am. It only went up 5 degrees this afternoon and is back here this evening. Now, I grew up in Northwest

Also in Middle TN! Don't worry, in around 6 months we'll be moaning about the heat and humidity here in TN!

I know this is going to come off sounding pretty lame to some here, but I find it funny. We tried to take our kids to see the Christmas tree in front of the White House tonight, but with -10 wind chill (temp according to what my my wife read) we had to go back to the car after a Block. My three year old kept yelling about bees stinging his face, my 6 year old was crying because her buggers were frozen, and my 9 year old kept asking what’s wrong with our tree at home🤣 I started having childhood flashbacks to my Dad screaming something along the lines of “G@$ Damn, these are special memories you’ll have when you’re older! Suck it up!” My kids are not acclimated to the cold in anyway! Thankfully we’re dealing with global warming and not a new ice age🤣

Jed they are better than me I would have been crying and having a tantrum before ever getting out of the car and refused to get out. Go ahead and spank me Dad I ain't getting out of this nice warm car oh and leave it running while you crazy people go out to freeze :emoji_laughing:
