The wife went to help the boy move into college in North Dakota today.

A perfect opportunity to fire up the Griswold, get some serious smoke and spicy goin.

I have been using the Tones Cajun spice as a blackening, it works well and tastes great.

No reverse sear here... just a good ol Griswold black iron fryin pan with some smokin hot butter.

It turned out tender and juicy, medium rare. Really good!

So good I just might have to have another one tomorrow night [IMG].

    Thanks for looking!

That's a great looking steak John!

I never thought to try Cajun on a steak, but you can bet the next ribeye I do will be blackened.

    Point for a fantastic steak!

Good looking steak.  If you like the Tone's Cajun...Try some Slap Ya Mama spicy on it.  I think you'll be please but then I use it on just about everything.

Thanks fellas, Thanks for the points! - I did have a New York strip last night with this technique (sorry no pics).

Two things I really like about this: 1) Extremely Easy and Fast, 2) Really Tasty Spicy Good

Yeppers, I hear you Brian... by the time it gets over I might be on Spam and hamburgers, (although I like Spam and hamburgers)!

Great looking steak John.  I've never tried Cajun on a steak, but by the looks of that one, I better try one real soon.

BTW, New York Strip is my all time fav when it comes to steaks.

    POINTS.

    Ha! Your in luck Gary!

I just did New York Blackened tonight: http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/251416/blackened-new-york-on-the-griswold

Give it a try, you'll love it.

  13. This looks good and I will try it. The part I like is your respect for the Griswold skillet as a special tool. If someone has not cooked on a vintage skillet like those then you have not really lived. Combine that piece of industrial artistry and a good chef and you have a piece of meat like shown above. Points!
