I've had a regulator start leaking but never had the plastic nut break. Not cool for that to happen.

I have several propane devices with similar connections and have never seen that before. Did it stay out in the sun light for an excessive amount of time. Sometimes Sunlight can do nasty things to stuff made from plastic....dunno if that's the answer but it may be.
