What kind are they ?

Any experts on here?  What kind are they and are they safe to eat. I founf them on my place today and there are lots of them on this dead tree..

I'm afraid to eat any mushrooms that aren't store bought. I'm sure someone on here will know what yours are, but I would still be careful.

There's a saying with mushroom hunters.  There's old mushroom hunters and there's bold mushroom hunters, but there's no old, bold mushroom hunters!!!!! If your not sure don't eat it.

I don't know but I don't thinkmthat I would eat them yet. Maybe take some to someone who would know. But who ?

Maybe take a couple pictures of them and show them to your county ag agent they should be able to tell you or at least tell you where you can find out

They look like oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) to me.  And yes, oyster mushrooms are edible and very tasty.  If you are going to eat them just remember to soak them in salted water to remove any bugs.  I'm not an 'expert' but I have had training in wild mushroom hunting and I used to do it for local restaurants. Of course I can't be 100% certain without looking at them in person.

Thanks for the comment guys...Don`t worry I am not bold when it comes to mushrooms. I just thought that they were so pretty growing on that old dead tree and they look so healthy...I like them but down here in the South we have stuff that will get you when you are not looking...
