Sundays astonishing smoke rings and everything that came with it had to go. Dunno if it was the coffee she drank or something else from the vending machine at work but the wife has not been feeling good

Don't remember what you smoked on, but if a vertical style smoker, chicken on the bottom, always when you have other types of meats involved too. If you were on a horizontal, then probably something from work.

I feel your pain 2 racks of beef ribs, a roast and 2 fatties. The ribs had an unusual smell to them and it was not safe to eat and of course they were on top and dripped into all the others.

Sorry to hear about your wife getting ill and the loss of meat. If anything, it gives you another reason to smoke it up this weekend!

More'n likely it's a bug ... we've had it, her one week, me the next. If you reached temps then it shouldn't have mattered and if no one else got sick, then it's likely just a bug. But you did the right thing just in case!

Yeah I always go 5 over safe zone to be safe I just tossed it, ur right its prolly just a bug but I get nurotic about food stuff.

theres always an 8lb flat brisket I can cook all by his lonesome little self on saturday !!!

Well, my family got a nasty one day bug then I went to school to fill the kids lockers. MILLIONS of little snotty buggers running around and I had technicolor lung juice for 10 days. Just ended today.

Probably not your meat but you did the right thing. Hope the Mrs. is better. There's just junk goin around. Heck, it was 52 last night.

Enjoy that brisket!

Bummer deal!
I am sure its a bug....but better safe than sorry...I hear that brisket call ya! I hope your wife is feeling better and make sure you don't catch it!

My sincere condolences.
I went through it last Thursday, and we're not taking chances.
(reminds me, tomorrow's garbage day. Even throwing out the cheese)

I've gone to work after oral surgery.
Last Thursday I had to call in sick, knowing I was leaving 'em in the lurch. I tried six ways from Sunday.
But one sneeze and I might have had to throw out the car, too, if you know what I mean! <G>

You did the right thing, even though it hurts.
No amount of meat is worth you or your loved ones getting sick.

Karie,
sincerely sympathetic

P.S. Good excuse to do some smokin' THIS weekend!
