Too cool! That Willy's is probably worth some nice money nowadays. I was given a '49 Merc pedal car as a toddler from friends of my parents. Wish that was still around although I did own a '49 Merc Sport Sedan for several years until we hit hard times...

This thread isn't just for me, y'know!  Post your photos of "way back when" also!

TBT: Carl E. Fassett collecting the meat books behind the counter for the daily figures:

Nice pics, Pops.  Pork Roast 49 cents / lb.  Wow.  That's like 4 gallons of gas back then?

Meat prices relatively higher than gas back then.  Household income like $1000 PER YEAR or so.

Hmm.

Great Pics Pops!!!

OK----Here's where The Bear went to First Grade in 1954:

This was a One Room Schoolhouse, but the left side of the room was 1st grade, and the right side was 2nd grade. One teacher taught both grades. The back of the room had the potbellied stove, and the Boys & Girls Outhouses were in the field out back.

It's been fixed up, and now serves as the Meeting place for "The Richland Township Historical Society".

Ah the good old places! We just came back from our annual trip to Seneca Oregon for their oyster feed. They have a bit bigger school, a few more grades, but not by much.

Seneca is/was a company town built by the mill. They ran hardwood floor mainly. The Wigwam in the background is all that's left of the mill buildings. The 9 hole Bear Valley Country club occupies a good portion if the old log yard. Not much of a course, but every Oyster feed they hold a Scramble tournament. It's a bring your own golf cart affair! You can see the golf cart of choice!

Old loading dock still useful!

That mows the fairways!

Treasures that line the alley's everywhere! Actually the treasures in every guys wood shop in town, oh my!!!

C'mon----There must be more old guys around here with pics of old memories!!!

Don't you think so Pops?!?!

Bear

Absolutely, Bear!  Here's a couple when we were kids:

Me, on the left, my twin brother, on the right, taking our baths in the kitchen sink!  He said I phfff'd, by my smile, I must have, lol!

Mom and Dad on their wedding day!  I'd sure like that car, lol!

Not too long ago either, but here's the Bear Family at Bear Jr's wedding---8 years ago.

The sun was brutal in our eyes for that picture!!

Well, Bear. I am Irish Catholic as is my family. We were married in an Anglican church. My in laws thought I was a crazy unreliable sod (which was true). I had reasons to be anxious until the ceremony was over. I was waiting for one side of the family or the other to do something to disrupt the service.
