How close to the house is your smoker?

Maybe move it to a different side of the house where the airflow is a bit different?

That's what I was figuring, not to mention carbon monoxide.
That might be the reason he suggested it!

Once you get him hooked on smoked meat, he will worry less about the smoke. In fact, he may encourage you to fire up the smoker more often !
Start with something that has a short duration in the pit.....try something like chicken, work up to longer smoke times. Vgood luck !

If you smoke in that tent...IT...will smell like smoke! Will he be unhappy with that too? At my apartment, I had to rig a box fan to blow the emoke away from the building. The neighbors didn't like the smell either. What the heck is wrong with some people?...JJ

Yeah I hear ya. Idk grilling in a tent just sounds bad. The funny thing is, I ain't even smoking yet, just simple grilling of steaks, ha-ha.
I think the first thing in gunna try to smoke is a fatty, those things look awesome.

oh man your just grilling steaks and such....i bet they really wont like having the smoke rolling for 10+ hour for a butt or brisket... What kind of smoker you have?

Just a knock off weber kettle at the moment. Id like to get a WSM as a starter, but for now I'm just gonna set up my kettle until I can afford one.

A WSM is a great smoker i love mine the only downfall is its short on space and i cant afford a 400 dollar 22.5 so in the next couple of months when i have time im going to start building a UDS which IMO is just a home made 22.5 WSM and it can be done with less than half the cost of that WSM. As long as you can use a drill tape measure and a wrench you can make a uds

Josh,

UDS=Ugly Drum Smoker.  Usually a homemade 55 gal. drum smoker. Type UDS in the search block

and you'll get a ton of info on how to build one, cook on one and recipes for one.
