Round or Square... Does it really matter?

    I'm working on plans for a reverse flow. I think I want to just start with raw metal and build a square oven. But, I know most are round. I think it's only because people are starting with tanks or pipe. The shape doesn't really matter right? An oven is an oven??

    For some reason I'm thinking that a round smoker would be better but.........I know that smoke isn't smart and it will go around anything you build but I just thinking air flow around the meat and stuff. Maybe it's all the college I went to for building and architecture design?????

    I don't think it will make much differance. My big smoker is rectangular and it heats up and holds heat just fine. If you build it right it will cook as good as any tank build out there. Go for it.

    Personally, I don't think it will make a difference.  It's all about volume and the amount of draft you can control.  Lang uses round, but guys like Stumps (which is essentially a reverse flow as well) use square designs.
