So I've been pretty happy with my Backyard Beast so far, but I still missed my Weber kettle grill for high heat searing. As you may know by now, my condo board doesn't allow gas or charcoal grills.
Enter the Recteq Bullseye! No wifi or ash dump, but upgrading to those features added an extra $325, so the basic model will do me just fine.
I just put it together and will do the burn-in later tonight, after I hit the grocery store. First cook will probably be some chicken thighs tomorrow. Can't wait!

Are they really ok with pellets? Seems an offset is neither gas or charcoal as well . Congratulations I’ve been wanting a bullseye but two webers and a mountain of charcoal still to use up. I’ve read lots about people switching to heavy cast iron grates to help hold the temps more steady. Good luck on your first cook!

It's humming along at 400° right now.
I was thinking about the grates. I think Weber makes some cast iron ones. The Bullseye is supposed to be the same dimension as a Weber, so theoretically, the grates should be interchangeable.

Basically, they're against anything that would produce open flames that could potentially burn the place down. Pellet smokers fit into sort of a loophole within that policy. That's the main reason that I bought the place.
