Did some grocery shopping this past weekend like a lot of folks and happened to run across a tri tip. I have never seen a tri tip in this area that wasn't pre-seasoned and on very rare occasion do we see them in general so I was pretty happy when I ran across this thing.

A little under two pounds

Seasoned up with thick Worcestershire, CBP, garlic powder, and pink sea salt.

Got the grill real nice and hot. I like to get a good sear and then move up to the top rack to finish if the IT isn't quite there yet.

Pulled that at 125 and let it rest. In the meantime I threw on a mahi mahi filet for my wife. She's more of a fish person than a steak person and I happened to have some filets in the freezer so why not. Real simple on this one. Drizzled in garlic herb EVOO and coated in CBP, garlic powder, and parsley.

All plated up. Fish with a fresh lettuce salad. Cukes, tomatoes, feta cheese, drizzled in the same garlic herb EVOO and red wine vinegar. Lost the end of the fish in the process due to taste testing by the wife.

Tri tip after slicing.

Simple. Threw in some mashed potatoes and a couple dinner rolls.

Honestly I would have eaten either plate. Was kind of jealous how good that fish turned out but man the tri tip was perfect as far as tenderness and taste went. Anyways nothing special but wanted to share a few pics. Yall stay safe out there!

Great looking plates John!! Like you' I'd take either and be thrilled to have it. That tri tip is just gorgeous. Perfectly cooked!! Don't ya hate it though when you lose part of the fish in the plating process? That seems to happen regularly around here, but not so much with fish.

LIKE!!

Both plates look great John! Good to see you’re finding TT in your area.

Boy howdy John, both plates look gorgeous, Like! We do the same split here quite often, wife doesn't eat steak or chops. RAY

Thanks Robert appreciate the kind words my friend. I pulled that sucker off the grill and my wife was sitting outside on her laptop and had to "taste test" it lol. I am hooked on tri tip thanks to you!

Thanks Ray! My wife will eat steak but usually prefers something more healthy and not something she is going to bite into fat or gristle. Glad you said chops I need to grab some. Stay safe down there in AZ!

Thanks Jake appreciate it man. Where do you normally buy yours at?
John my Sam's club always has them. Double packs. Went Friday and alot of meat was gone but they probably had 50 tri tips. Saw people looking at them like "wth are we supposed to do with this" and passing them by. I got 4 lol. If your Sam's doesnt have then I'd ask. I bet they will carry if you do

I'll be gracious and take that to mean "thank you" and yes, you're more than welcome :emoji_wink: They are a great cut of meat. Sadly I'm down to 5 or 6 in the freezer now. Didn't add any more to the order I just placed but that's ok. I've got some other goodies coming...like two more full 103 sub primal rib sections along with a few other things. You may have to take a trip to TX pretty soon and chow down on some CPB prime rib that's gonna occupy the rotisserie of the Santa Maria for a while one weekend.

Rolling out the red carpet,
Robert

Oh Jake...isn't it so nice to be smarter than the average bear? Be happy that most folks don't have a clue what a tri tip is all about. More for us!! :emoji_laughing:

Lol my thoughts exactly

Funny yall say that. When I bought this one there were probably 10 in the case. Everything else around it was gone. No steaks, ground beef, roasts, etc... I had the feeling no one knew wtf is was so that's why they were left. I was happy and know where to look for them now!

great looking meals John, I would have to flip a coin over which one to eat.

Of course that was a thank you man!

I know that :emoji_laughing: Was just playing around. You've already indicated your thanks numerous times and it's greatly appreciated that you're enjoying the cut...especially after so many years of never having one. That's now two in the past few weeks. you're on a roll!!
