No Power

Got a MES 30, used once, got ribs ready and now no power. Theres power to where the cord comes in. Took control box apart, everythind looks good. Any thoughts?

Got it working. Its 30 degrees here, brought controller in to house to warm up, then it worked

An easier way is to pull out the chip loader & blow a hair dryer in for about 20 seconds. When it's really cold out here that's what I do to get my MES 30 working - never fails

Did'nt know it was cold blooded. Got the cold smoker kit running with it for alittle extra heat. So far so good. Thanks

I heard about that before, but not many have the problem. I think I heard of putting a pan of hot water in it to warm it up a bit.

I have mine 4 years in PA (gets very cold), and never had it happen (knock on wood).

I only have to do it when it's below about 15 & I tried the hot water but a hair dryer is MUCH, MUCH faster. You have a 40 don't you Bear? I think the MES 30 is more susceptible to this than the 40...

OMG please Mr. Fox, don't throw me in that briar patch!!

I've already had to cut the yard twice because the weeds are knee high.  And its cold enough you need a jump start to get the electric heater to run, and my AC has been chugging along now for a month.

I didn't know too much about it---Only what I heard. Funny 30 is worse than 40.

Do you heat the element or would heating the sensor do it better?  Ever try it?

Just wondering.

Probably the best thing would be to move to Florida, but we'd miss all this beautiful white stuff!!!

On mine I have to warm the sensor to get it to turn on. Not that it hasn't happened with a 40 but so far I've only heard of 30's doing this - I know of several... A few seconds with a hair dryer gets mine going so it doesn't bother me 

Yeah I've been to Florida many times - I have relatives in Jupiter Beach & West Palm Beach. It's nice to visit but I'm a 4 seasons guy all the way

LOL----Sounds familiar---I spent 54 weeks in Hawaii, and I couldn't wait to get back to the PA mountains.

Lucky you, we still have snow in the back yard, minus degrees in the celcius up here and they say there will not be much of an improvement for another month, with one or two more snow storms slated to come through the area in that month.

But do understand, we are a hardy bunch up here, pull either the Gas BBQ, the Weber charcoal BBQ or the MES and do up some meat, even at 15 below in the F range.
