Had a co-worker give me a gift card to a local butcher known in my area to have top shelve meats. Picked up a couple of 1 1/2 thick ribeye steaks. Wow really nice cut of meat with there special dusting power.

What did you pay for the Ribeyes?  Everytime I go to the butcher and look at them I realize they need to be reserved for a special occassion.  I think Sams had them for almost 9 bucks a pound yesterday and they where not nearly as nice as yours in the Qview.

Great looking ribeye's. We get them at Sam's once in a while & I've been toying with the idea of getting a whole ribeye ( Sam's sell them ) & smoking it. Or maybe cut a few steaks out & smoke a big chunk. But like you said they are so darn expensive.

Now thats a good looking plate of food. Can I come over I'll leave the wife home. I just went to restuarant depot and got the whole roast for 6.99 lb and it was really good and tender to.

Two of these cost me $33.00. I was waiting for the right moment to go and pick a couple up. Just added a little salt and pepper over the dusting powed and grilled them up over medium heat on my charcoal grill then I like to take a stick of butter and rub over the top ( not to much just a little ) when bring them in! Well worth the money.

I won a monthly drawing at a local meat market for $100. 2 ribeyes and 2 lobster tails + about $10-$20.  It was really really good, but I just can't imagine paying that on a regular basis.

Al, I grabbed one at Restaurant Depot last month.  $7.74 lb.  This one was 18.28 lbs.  I cut it into a bunch of 2 lb. roasts and a several steaks, too.  It was well worth the investment.

Prime grade 9 bucks a lb here at the expensive place.

Hard to tell with the cooked meat.

Even the graded meat can be tricky cause there are different levels in each grade.

A good look at the raw meat tells me if I want to spend extra.  Considering what has happened to prices in my area, it better be a good cut of meat to make me pay the big bucks.  LOLOL

Good luck and good smoking.

lol I hear ya! 2 ribeyes cost me $33 dollars. Lol thank God I had a gift card someone gave me for $25 dollars. I may go back about once a yr just for that very special occasion. I was at sams to day and check there price on some nice ribeyes and they were $9.99 lb.

Those look good!

Here in my corner of Eastern Ontario, my local little butcher/grocer which has been around here for 60 years+  sells prime rib roast for $7/pound regular price. My brother got a very nice 7 pounder last week.

Here in Columbus we have a grocery that will put Standing Rib Roasts on sale around Christmas.  I just ordered mine @ $7.49 a pound.  They have boneless for $8.99.

They are fantastic when smoked.  I don't really put anything on them, maybe a dash of Montreal Steak seasoning, and go with Hicory and cherry wood.

Weather permitting I will smoke it this year and get some picks up.  If not, I will go with the tried and true Salt Dome in the roaster.  The family really seems to like as well, and a lot less babysitting.

Going to try a couple of thick ribeyes from a local grocery that has a good reputation for there beef. It should be just as good. Looking forward to it thats for sure!

Here in Cali, Costco sells prime for 10.99 a pound. I dry aged this one for 28 days. Turned out pretty tasty :)

Tasty enough to get another ribeye plus a NY for a 45 day age!

I have a friend who goes to a really great meat market called Ramey's for business. He gets them wholesale for me at $6 # but I only get them a couple of times a year
