Just picked up a new 275 gal. tank to make a smoker. Have been using a brinkman smoker for a few years. It's starting to fall apart so i picked up a tank to make a rf with a ferris wheel and or racks for it. This way i can put shelves and take them out for a spit. Will have picks of our procss ust bought an old camper to have hot water and the kitchen sink, Will be using the electric hookup for lights , tv and stereo. This should be an awesome build ! I am a machinist and my friend jay is a fabricator. We are doing this for a hobby. We have cooked brisket many times along with pork butts and prime ribs aver the years. not a newbie to smoking wonderful meats. Just looking for ideas and insight to how other people have this much fun cooking great meals. This is just getting started so bear with me on the pics. Have an idea on how to do this, but will definetly  looking for tips along the way. Is the fire box measured from the top of the fire grate?

Good morning and welcome to the forum from a beautiful partly sunny day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web.

Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.

Thank you. Going to try a steamship round in the new smoker next weekend. I smoked a whole hog in it last weekend for the first time using it. Held temp nicely through out the whole process.

Yes took me alittle while to come up with design. I have a spit in there. Also have 5 baskets that rotate like a Ferris wheel that can be changed to. The tank opens to put the spit in and has a vent to the oven that can be controlled to smoke in their also.
