Hello everyone thought it was time to check in with everyone. Been on this sight for a while but never introduce my self. Retired almost 6 years ago. I have messed around with smoking for 30 years off and on, I've had offsets smokers, barrel smokers, and just purchased MES 40 about a month ago and a Auber controller 1520H. I'm little slow getting it going, realized that I couldn't run it off my outside plug which is only 15amps and with refrigerator on that circuit that is in the garage I was afraid it would pop the GFCI I've had problems in the past use the outlet outside. Were up and running today with an extension cord from inside the house LOL. Doing the first seasoning on it today might do one or two more time will tell I guess. Really looking forward to this MES 40 it seems to be set and forget for the most part with the Auber controller. Any way hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hello from RI.

I wouldn't make to much of a habit of running your MES off an extension cord. A dedicated GFCI for it would be ideal but that's not always possible, in my case I have an outside one that when using my MES the only other thing on that circuit is my basement dehumidifier that I can simply unplug for the duration of the smoke.

On the subject of modding your MES. Besides doing the rewire to be able to use the Auber doing the mailbox mod is a good one, it's nice not having to load chips every half hour. Do a search for "mailbox mod" here on the forums and you'll come up with several threads about it.
