Has anyone ever come across one of these before? Trader Vic's Chinese Oven

It looks like it runs on either wood or charcoal. At first I thought it was sitting on a cart, but it appears to be all one unit.
I don't plan on buying it, but it is an interesting curiosity.

Well, I've spent a lot of time in China but never seen anything quite like that. China is a big place though.

I think the concept is clear enough with the offset fire and the ability to hang pork belly and ducks etc for cooking. The draw is regulated by the vent at the top. The distance between the fire and the cook chamber is small so you can get some serious heat in that thing without having a flare up either. I think you can do some amazing BBQ on that. Chinese or otherwise.

$800 for that however is a lot to spend on a whim. You'd want a specific usage case, or you have too much money.

Offer him $200. Tops.
