New comer to the world of smoking. The fiance got me a MES 140 smoker for Christmas so I've been obsessed with smoking meats. I've done ribs/brisket/pork butt so far. None have come out as good as I would have thought. I think that's mostly due to my lack of patience, so cooking a pork butt now, started at 5am and going to resist the urge to rush it. Love all the threads and tips/pointers I've seen on this site! I think I found my new homepage!

Your first butt is bound to test both your patience and your sanity. Figure on two hours per pound, (if smoking at 225* to 250*), and you may wind up pleasantly surprised.

Welcome to the smoking hobby and the site.

Welcome to SMF with the new addictive smoker. Glad you're here and ready to master your skills. Patience is by far one of the toughest lessons to learn, but oh so necessary.

Enjoy the successes and lessons. They all taste delicious!

Happy smokin',

Ray

Welcome!! Absolutely agree, tons of pointers and information here. Also don’t hesitate to ask any questions if something is consistently coming out subpar for your liking.

Plus the people aren’t so bad either!

From MD myself, glad you found your new homepage!

Welcome and Howdy from East Texas, great forum and great people.
