Just wanted to introduce myself.

I am an avid cook, but fairly new to BBQ.  I have done a few cooks on a makeshift smoker at our Camp in VT.  But nothing very good.  I have learned how to use my Gas Grill to produce some fairly good ribs, but decided late last summer that I really wanted to do it right.

SO I am building my first UDS.  I am using the top from a cheap 22 1/2 grill.  I dropped my barrel off at the sandblaster yesterday, and he said it should be done tomorrow.

If all goes according to plan i should be able to burn it out Friday, and maybe get it built Saturday.  If that works I may be smoking something for the Pats game Saturday!!!

First off Welcome Bitchin to SMF. Nice that you built your own smoker already to and believe me you will like it too. You'll like it here for there are alot of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. Now there are alot of proven recipes for some amazing things here too. So if you need sign up for the E-Course it's free and it will give you the basics of smoking and some good methods to use also. So the next big thing for you to do is go out and get you something to smoke and if you happen to have any questions just post it here and we will be happy to answer them for you.

Today I picked up my barrel.  Took it to the carwash and cleaned it up.  This afternoon I snuck in some time to build my firebox... Tomorrow we burn it out, and mayby by saturday we try some drumsticks on it!!!
