I ordered a copy of Mastering Barbecue by Michael H. Stines. It arrived about a week ago and I have just finished reading through it. First, let me say that I have quite a few "BBQ books" but I can tell that this one is going to definitely be one of my favorites.

There's not a lot of glitz but rather a plain paper back ($13.47 from Amazon.Com) that is literally chucked full of great information. The explanations and recipes range from brines for all meats, woods to use, temperatures and times to smoke, sauces, mops and marinades, all kinds of meats, seafood and vegetables.

His format is straight forward and the recipes sound great! I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a real interest in smoking meat ..... regardless of your level of expertise. As Stines says, tons of recipes, great tips, neat techniques and iondespensible know-how ..... and I totally agree.

and I thought I had enough cookbooks at 200... now its going to goto 201 ;) thanks for the information!
