Jimmy it was nice to meet a fellow smoker in person

You got a very nice Family, pretty cool Boa too!

Well the trip home was uneventful except for when I pulled out of your driveway.

I almost took out your telephone pole.

When I was making the left out of your Driveway, I thought the smoker had shifted and was watching it through the rearview and misjudged the road, I would say I missed the pole by maybe 6 inches, You probably seen me swerve HAha OH WELL.

How were the Brats, me and my Brother were eating whoppers at the rest area wondering how the Brats were.

Looks like he may be interested in starting up smoking, I'll get him started on the water smoker and see how he likes it.

Going to start the restore in the fall but will play around with it a bit first. Yes plenty of photos will follow!

Thanks Again Jimmy

Frank Jr, at his new Home.

Jimmy had given me some other treats as well, 3 bags of Charcoal, Chimney Starter, 2 new handles for the Braunfels and a water smoker.

I felt like a little kid on Christmas Morning.

It is great that the two of you got to meet. I talk to Jimmy once a week on the phone and I hope he didn't get his Jersey up on ya LOL

SQWIB, Glad to hear your Bro was inspired. I, as many of us, have cut our teeth on those little Mecco or ECB water smokers and he will hopefully catch the bug and have good luck with that smoker. That little smoker has put out many racks of great Ribs. I had a great time and look forward to tossing back a few in the future as well. The Brats were good, better than Whopper's I suspect. LOL. Take care...JJ

I hate to post this but the smoker may be history.

The bottom right is completely rusted out.

I played with it last night and may have a few ideas on saving it.

I'll start a Restore thread and drop back here and post the link for those that are interested.

My wife came out last night while I was working on it and said whats wrong you look like bewildered.

I told her the condition of the smoker and she said, "well if it's no good toss it".

Sad, but she don't understand what is sitting there. After she said that I said, "NO I have to figure out a way to save it", so out came the tools.

On the restore thread I'll try to get some feedback from my fellow smokers.

I am really sorry to hear that! When I checked it beginning of this summer I didn't notice any thin spots. Although I really just tapped around randomly with a small hammer. How big is the rust through? And you have any talented welder buddies? Now I feel bad...

...Sorry SQWIB...JJ

Dude didn't mean to make you feel bad. Even if it was a total wash, I still got to meet an awesome fellow smoker.

Don't worry about it, Trust me I go into these things expecting the worst and hoping for the best, this way I'm never disappointed.

Anyhow I started a restore thread and I think it can be saved, but I want to hear from other folks for some input.
