Made a couple more trussing needles

During the cold snap I made a couple more of the trussing needles I used to make as a kid for stringing bacon and other chunks of meats.

The rod is high carbon steel flattened and then hot punched on the anvil.  The handles are whitetail antler and buckeye burl wood.

Can you make a mega sized one? Like 8' long? We need ice picks to break up the 4' tall ice berm the plows make in front our driveways up here!

Antler is getting hard to find without paying a BUTTLOAD for it.  I use to get them for pennies per inch, now some are $3.00-$20.00 per inch depending upon species...

These are the "rustic" version to resemble the ones we used as kids.  Back then it was more about functionality than looks.  I have some stainless rod and will turn the handles for the next batch.
