So this is going to be a long thread so hopefully you have the attention span. Bought the Louisiana Estate BI 2018 and have had nothing but issues with it, fires, leaks and control panel failures. I am on my 3rd one now, to be fair they have been good on the customer service side and on this last issue (complete fire) they gave me the Louisiana Black Label 800 while they had to get me the new Estate and have it delivered to me. So I get the 800 and when it works it works well, here is the issue I am running into I will have it plugged it and periodically I get a Beep then error code of BLU2 which then the unit shuts down, I turn it back on and sometimes it cooks all the way through and sometimes it will turn off another 2-5 times over the time of cook. Sometimes the length of cook is 2 hours and has gone as long as 6 hours but the turning off is just all over the map. They have tried their best to fix, sent me a new controller, fan, and all electrical to replace in the unit and still not a fix. Had a engineer over as their corp office is here in Phoenix. Now they think it may be a fluctuation of electrical power at my home causing the issue. Has anyone else had this issue and if so does anyone have a fix? I am to the point of either fixing or selling both units and buying a gasser and a Yoder.

Sorry for the long thread and appreciate any feedback possible.

I have a couple of questions that may help solve your pellet grill shutdown issues. What kind of electrical wall outlet are you using? To eliminate any possible electrical current issues, I would switch and use a different electrical wall outlet and if possible, use one that has a 15-Amp GFCI circuit breaker. If you don’t have one, it’s about a $10-15 dollar investment to upgrade. Also, What kind of extension cord are you using if any? I had a similar problem with my PitBoss Austin XL when I first got it, either it would shut off while bbqing or it wouldn’t power up at all. I was using a standard home extension cord when all the electrical issues were happening, so I switched to a 10 gauge heavy duty extension cord and upgraded my wall outlet to a 15 Amp GFCI circuit breaker outlet and all my electrical shut off issues were solved. Doing those two changes should solve any electrical current issues and if the problem still continues, then it’s definitely something going on with with your grills Controller or a faulty electrical connection within your grill. Lastly, if this is occurring on two separate pellet grills, then it’s definitely an electrical circuit issue that the GFCI wall outlet and 10 gauge extension cord should solve. I hope the info helps and good luck.

Thank you for the response, I have swithced it to all over the place in the backyard and yes it is plugged into the GFI, I am using a 10 guage extenssion cord as well. I will try other avenues and see if this fixes the issue. I appreciate the feedback.

Wow! Sorry to hear of your trouble's. When a company engineer has no clue. What the hell are you supposed to do? Best of Luck and hope you get a good result...JJ

Hey RC, your suggestion has worked, thank you as no ody was able to determine the issue. Now time to focus on grilling and smoking.

Kids across the street have a Cabelas (appears to be rebranded Pitboss)
After 2 controllers and an auger motor it is functioning. Still breaks the auger drive bolt periodically.
Based on this and your posting, I would never get a Pitboss or a Louisiana brand grill.

I have a now discontinued Masterbuild pellet grill. Not the greatest unit, but ZERO problems.
I should get a replacement controller as the OE is pretty lame

This is good information! I'm having similar issues with my LG BL 1000, I'll need to check out a heavier duty extension cord. I'm on my second controller, (with a third on the way, shipped today) After replacing my controller the first time, the wifi function isn't working, hopefully that changes with my new controller. As said before, their Customer Service seems to be good, but I wish the product was good enough that I didn't have to deal with them!
