You can throw my hat in the ring as well. I have 2 electric smoker builds in process.
I actually hope you change your mind and give it a try with your MES. No rewiring. Just set the MES to maximum temperature and plug into the PID unit. The MES users can help you with the pid settings to get started. If you don't like it, no harm done and the MES still works as is. Then you can put it on the lottery.

Mighty fine gesture! I already have one and loved it, still love it... but like many I don't use my mes much. Someone's gonna get a great deal as it makes a mes a dialed in smoker!
