Has anyone ever used a bowl, chopper to make jerky chew? When I was younger I remember getting jerked chew and it was so good. Anyone, just wondering if a bowl chopper could handle jerky.

I don't think it would do the trick. A food processor with a pulse setting may be a better option.

Those are kind of pricey. I hope you're planning on making a ton of jerky chew with that investment. I've never seen one in action. So I can't say if it will do what your asking.

I have one now, was wondering if anyone used it for making the jerkey chew. Don't want to break it.....

I don't know what type of bowl chopper you have but mine is a beast. I have never used my buffalo chopper for jerky but i have used it for cabbage, potatoes, carrots, onions and for emulsifying meat for hot dogs. I have no doubt mine would shred the jerky but I think you would have to put a substantial amount of jerky in it for it to work correctly. To little and the jerky would not get processed into a consistent product. IMHO

That's the same one I have! Did you get the lid and bowl retinned? did you paint yours as well? I just picked it up at an auction. Works great. Bowl and lid are in decent shape, but not like yours. Any idea what you can sell it for? (just debating if it is worth getting it retinned). Any hot dog recipe tips? I plan on making those using the chopper.

I would have zero issues chopping jerky with a Hobart bowl chopper.

The blades and motor are more than substantial for that application.

Those things will chop damn near anything you can feed them. If you're worried about it, moisten, then reheat your jerky to soften it up a bit before feeding it to the chopper, then pop it in the oven on a sheet pan to dry it.

My family's restaurant used the same Hobart chopper for at least 35 yrs.
I'm sure it was used at least three times a week, man those things are loud. :emoji_laughing:

An upscale version of the old Slap Chop/Ronco Chop-0-Matic!

A couple of years ago, the son of some friends was marrying a woman who was a graduate of the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu school in Paris. I suggested to my wife that we give them a Slap Chop, as she was sure not to already have one.

I was outvoted...
